What To Expect

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our friendly tour guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your 4-star hotel in the heart of the city. After check-in, we will provide you with a detailed introduction to the biking tour, including all arrangements and the itinerary ahead. Enjoy a free evening to explore Kathmandu at your leisure.

Day 2: Drive to Kyirong (195 km)

After breakfast, we will depart for Kyirong, a scenic drive through the Nepalese countryside towards the Tibet border. Once we reach Kyirong, we will complete the border crossing formalities and meet our Tibet-based staff who will accompany us throughout the rest of the journey.

Day 3: Drive to Saga (108 km)

Today’s journey takes us to Saga, a town located at 4,500 meters. The drive offers beautiful views of the Tibetan Plateau as we approach the remote and serene landscape of Saga County. This area is an important gateway for pilgrims on their way to Mount Kailash.

Day 4: Drive to Lake Manasarovar (500 km)

An exciting 500 km drive brings us to Lake Manasarovar, the sacred lake located in the Ngari region of Tibet. On this smooth, well-maintained road, we will cross several rivers and ascend the Mayumla Pass (4,600 m), where we will pause to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, feel the serenity of one of the world’s highest and holiest lakes.

Day 5: Visit Chiu Monastery & Manasarovar, then drive to Dharpoche (50 km)

Start your day with a visit to Chiu Monastery, where you’ll have the rare chance to meditate in the cave of Guru Rinpoche. After a peaceful walk along the shores of Lake Manasarovar, enjoy the opportunity to bathe in its sacred waters. In the afternoon, we will drive to Dharpoche, a pilgrimage site and the first prostration point for those undertaking the Kailash Kora. Continue to Dharchen in the evening, a key starting point for the pilgrimage to Mount Kailash.

Day 6: Drive back to Saga County (500 km)

Today, we will retrace our route back to Saga along the same road we traveled previously. This drive offers an opportunity to reflect on your journey so far while taking in more of Tibet’s awe-inspiring landscapes.

Day 7: Drive to Kyirong and Transfer to Nepal (160 km)

On the final day of the tour, we will drive back to Kyirong and complete the necessary border-crossing procedures. Once in Nepal, your Tibet-based staff will bid farewell as we transfer you to the Nepali side of the border. Your journey officially ends here, marking the end of this unforgettable adventure through Tibet.

  • While prior motorbiking experience is recommended, the tour is designed for intermediate to experienced riders. The routes are scenic but can be challenging, especially in high-altitude areas with rough terrain. If you’re not confident in your biking skills, we suggest opting for a support vehicle for some stretches or consulting with your guide for advice.

  • This tour takes you to altitudes of over 5,000 meters (16,400 feet). To help prevent altitude sickness, the itinerary includes gradual acclimatization with time spent in Lhasa and lower-altitude areas before reaching higher elevations. We recommend staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, and listening to your body. If you experience severe symptoms, please inform your guide immediately.

  • The tour offers high-quality motorbikes suitable for rugged terrain and long-distance travel. Typically, we provide BMW GS1200 or similar models, known for their reliability and comfort on both paved and unpaved roads. You will be briefed on the bike’s features and maintenance before the tour starts.

  • Yes, most meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and accommodations are included in the package. Accommodations range from comfortable 4-star hotels in Lhasa and Shigatse to simpler guesthouses at remote locations like Rongphu Monastery. Meals will be provided in local restaurants along the way, offering authentic Tibetan and Nepali cuisine.

  • You will need a valid passport, a Chinese visa for entry into Tibet, and a Tibet Travel Permit, which we will arrange for you. For the part of the tour that crosses into Nepal, you will need a Nepal visa, which can typically be obtained at the border. Our team will assist with all necessary documentation and permits.
