What To Expect

Day 1: Transit to Rasog Bridge & Cross the Kyirong Border

  • Our team will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu and embark on a scenic drive to the Kyirong border early in the morning.
  • Lunch: Cross the border in time for lunch and enjoy a brief stop before continuing your journey.
  • Afternoon: Drive another 24km to Gyirong town.
  • Overnight: Stay in a comfortable hotel in Gyirong town.

Day 2: Kyirong to Everest Base Camp (7 hours)

  • Morning: Begin your drive through breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas, heading towards Rongbuk, home to the world’s highest monastery. Along the way, you’ll catch spectacular views of four towering 8,000-meter peaks: Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), Mt. Makalu (8,485m), and Mt. Cho Oyu (8,188m).
  • Afternoon: Visit the Rongbuk Monastery and take in the stunning vistas of Everest.
  • Overnight: Stay at Rongbuk Monastery Guesthouse or a nearby tent guesthouse at the foot of Everest.

Day 3: Explore Everest at Sunrise & Drive to Shigatse (360km)

  • Early Morning: Rise early to witness a magical sunrise over Mount Everest. Enjoy some time to explore the area and soak in the majestic views.
  • Lunch: Return to Rongbuk for a hearty lunch before setting off.
  • Afternoon: Drive to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet, for an overnight stay.
  • Overnight: Stay in a comfortable 4-star hotel.

Day 4: Shigatse – Gyantse – Karola Glacier – Yamdrok Lake – Lhasa (361 km, approx. 8 hours)

  • Morning: Begin the day with a visit to the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, home to the world’s largest statue of Jampa (the future Buddha) and the seat of the Panchen Lama.
  • Midday: Drive towards Lhasa, stopping at Gyantse to explore the Pelkor Chode Monastery and its famous Kumbum Stupa, one of Tibet’s tallest and most intricate Buddhist structures.
  • Afternoon: Continue your journey to Lhasa, passing the awe-inspiring Karola Glacier and stopping at Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s holiest and most stunning lakes.
  • Evening: Arrive in Lhasa and check into your hotel.

Day 5: Visit Drepung & Sera Monasteries

  • Morning: After breakfast, head to Drepung Monastery, once home to over 10,000 monks. Explore its vast grounds, which were once the center of the Tibetan administration under the Fifth Dalai Lama before the Potala Palace.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a Tibetan meal in Lhasa.
  • Afternoon: Visit Sera Monastery, renowned for its vibrant debates among monks. Experience the intellectual and spiritual energy that fills the monastery courtyard.

Day 6: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street
