Day 2: Biking Tour in Lhasa – Potala Palace & Jokhang Temple

Day 3: Biking Tour of Lhasa's Monasteries – Drepung & Sera

After breakfast, we’ll begin our biking adventure at 09:00 AM. Ride 8 km to the Drepung Monastery, nestled at the foot of the mountains, and immerse yourself in its rich history. After lunch at a local restaurant, head 7 km to the Sera Monastery, famous for its lively debates between monks in the courtyard. This afternoon ride will give you a closer look at the spiritual practices of Tibet.

Day 4: Scenic Biking to Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake (280 km)

After an early breakfast, we embark on a breathtaking 280 km ride towards Gyantse, passing through stunning landscapes. En route, cross the Kambala Pass (3,975 m), admire the turquoise waters of Yamdrok Lake, and witness the majesty of the Karola Glacier. Stop for scenic photos along the way before arriving in Gyantse, renowned for its Pelkhor Monastery and ancient Gyantse Zong Fortress, once the administrative center of Tibet.

Day 5: Gyantse to Shigatse (90 km)

Today, enjoy a 90 km ride through fertile agricultural lands towards Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Along the way, you can visit the Gyantse Dzong fortress and the Palcho Chode Monastery. In Shigatse, explore the impressive Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, home to the Panchen Lama.

Day 6: Shigatse to Lhatse (150 km)

This day’s ride takes you through the Yulung La Pass (4,950 m), where you will enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. The road is relatively less traveled, offering a peaceful biking experience before reaching Lhatse. In the evening, relax and unwind at the Shanghai Hotel, one of the best accommodations in the area.

Day 7: Lhatse to Rongphu Monastery (195 km)

Set out early towards Rongphu Monastery (5,150 m), the highest monastery in the world, located just below Mount Everest’s Base Camp (5,200 m). On the way, pass through the town of Lhatse, cross Gyatsola Pass (5,248 m), and head into rugged mountain terrain towards the monastery. After an adventurous ride through these high-altitude passes, you will arrive at Rongphu Monastery for a unique, peaceful experience.

Day 8: Everest Base Camp Exploration & Ride to Old Tingri (80 km)

Start your day with a breathtaking sunrise over Mount Everest, one of the world’s most iconic peaks. After breakfast, take an eco-bus to Everest Base Camp (4 km) for a closer look at this awe-inspiring site. After exploration, return to Rongphu Monastery and ride 80 km to Old Tingri, passing through off-the-beaten-path landscapes.

Day 9: Old Tingri to Kyirong (206 km)

Today, enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful landscapes of the Himalayas as you head towards Kyirong, a picturesque town at the foot of the mountains. This 206 km ride offers stunning views of the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayan range.

Day 10: Transit to Rasog Bridge – Arrival in Kathmandu

On the final day of your adventure, we’ll drive 24 km from Kyirong to Rasog Bridge, where you will cross into Nepal. Our Nepalese staff will greet you on the other side of the bridge and transfer you to Kathmandu, where the tour officially ends.

  • While prior motorbiking experience is recommended, the tour is designed for intermediate to experienced riders. The routes are scenic but can be challenging, especially in high-altitude areas with rough terrain. If you’re not confident in your biking skills, we suggest opting for a support vehicle for some stretches or consulting with your guide for advice.

  • This tour takes you to altitudes of over 5,000 meters (16,400 feet). To help prevent altitude sickness, the itinerary includes gradual acclimatization with time spent in Lhasa and lower-altitude areas before reaching higher elevations. We recommend staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, and listening to your body. If you experience severe symptoms, please inform your guide immediately.

  • The tour offers high-quality motorbikes suitable for rugged terrain and long-distance travel. Typically, we provide BMW GS1200 or similar models, known for their reliability and comfort on both paved and unpaved roads. You will be briefed on the bike’s features and maintenance before the tour starts.

  • Yes, most meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and accommodations are included in the package. Accommodations range from comfortable 4-star hotels in Lhasa and Shigatse to simpler guesthouses at remote locations like Rongphu Monastery. Meals will be provided in local restaurants along the way, offering authentic Tibetan and Nepali cuisine.

  • You will need a valid passport, a Chinese visa for entry into Tibet, and a Tibet Travel Permit, which we will arrange for you. For the part of the tour that crosses into Nepal, you will need a Nepal visa, which can typically be obtained at the border. Our team will assist with all necessary documentation and permits.
