What To Expect

Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa

Welcome to Lhasa, the spiritual heart of Tibet! Upon arrival, our tour guide will greet you and transfer you to a comfortable 4-star hotel located in the vibrant Tibetan old town. Spend the evening acclimatizing to the altitude and exploring the local area at your leisure.

Day 2: Explore Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street

Start the day with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace, built in the 7th century and renowned for its stunning architecture and historical significance. After lunch, explore the Jokhang Temple, the holiest temple in Tibet, built during King Songtsen Gampo’s reign by Princess Wencheng. Conclude the day with a stroll through Barkhor Street, where you can immerse yourself in Tibetan culture and shop for traditional artifacts, religious items, antiques, Thangkas, and more.

Day 3: Visit Drepung and Sera Monasteries

In the morning, visit Drepung Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Tibet, founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choeje. It once housed over 10,000 monks and served as the administrative center during the 5th Dalai Lama’s reign. After lunch, head to Sera Monastery, established in 1419, and experience the fascinating Buddhist monk debates held in its courtyard.

Day 4: Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake – Karola Glacier – Gyantse – Shigatse (361 km, approx. 6 hours)

Embark on a scenic drive to Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s holiest and most picturesque lakes, with views of Mt. Nojing Gangsang (7,200m) in the distance. Continue to Gyantse, passing the breathtaking Karola Glacier. Gyantse, located at an elevation of 3,950m, is known for its historic hilltop fortress and the Pelkor Chode Monastery, which houses the tallest stupa in Tibet.

Day 5: Shigatse – Shegar – Mount Everest Base Camp (360 km, approx. 7 hours)

Lamas and home to the world’s largest statue of Jampa (the Future Buddha). Then, journey towards Rongbuk Monastery, near Everest Base Camp (EBC), passing through rugged grasslands and awe-inspiring high mountains. Enjoy views of four towering peaks over 8,000m: Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest, Mt. Qowowuyag, and Mt. Makalu.

Day 6: Rongbuk – Gyirong Port (approx. 7 hours)

Drive through stunning Himalayan landscapes en route to Gyirong Town, a picturesque location near the Nepal border. Enjoy the breathtaking views along the way as you descend into lower altitudes.

Day 7: Transfer to Kathmandu via Gyirong Border (24 km)

On the final day, your guide will assist with the border crossing at the Rasog Bridge (Chinese customs checkpoint). After completing the formalities, our Nepal-based team will meet you on the other side and transfer you to Kathmandu. Nepal visas can be processed upon arrival. Your unforgettable Tibet adventure officially ends here.
