The highest peak in the Nyenpo Yurtse range rises to an impressive 5,369 meters (17,611 feet) above sea level. It is also the tallest peak in the Bayankara Range, located at the intersection of Ngawa Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Jigdril County, and Banma County, straddling the borders of Qinghai and Sichuan provinces.

Day 1: Xining – Gangya Grassland – Labrang Monastery (2900m)

  • Distance: 300km | Duration: ~5 hours

Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Labrang, passing through the picturesque Gangya Grassland. Upon arrival, enjoy a Kora (pilgrimage circuit) around Labrang Monastery and visit the Gongtang Giant Stupa. Spend the night exploring the vibrant Tibetan culture of Labrang.

Day 2: Labrang – Machu – Awantsang Grassland (3400m)

  • Distance: 350km | Duration: 5–6 hours

In the morning, visit Labrang Monastery, one of the six major Gelugpa monasteries in Tibet, home to over 1,500 monks. Travel through the rolling Amdo grasslands to Machu County. Camp amidst the Awantsang Grassland, immersing yourself in Tibetan nomadic life and culture.

Day 3: Awantsang – Jigdril County – Shugtso Lake (3600m)

Drive to Jigdril County and visit Talong Monastery, a prominent Nyingma monastery. Continue to Shugtso Lake, where you’ll meet your yak men and horses. Begin a short trek along the lake’s shore into the valley, surrounded by pristine alpine scenery.

Day 4: Trek to Base Camp (Ragbe Valley)
